So glad to have tried this sushi spot in Dallas. Very similar to Hatsuyuki in terms of quality and experience, which is definitely a compliment. We tried mostly items on the special menu this time and they were all great. Highlights included: gindara (black cod), jikinmedai (snapper) and salmon belly, of course. Love the sear level on the sushi and the smoky flavor it brought. We 100% will come back!
Very good old school sort of style, and high quality. I'm hoping that a beautiful blonde who was there on Wednesday 7.03 just before 7 Pm, wearing a blue blouse, that arrived with a friend, might answer me so we can communicate. Did not feel like I should talk over fellow patrons and chefs before yet another friend joined them. I'd love to hear back from you!
I've had Hatsuyuki and this is almooooost comparable. The rice was a little soft for me and I feel like the hand rolls were smaller. The service was very nice and they tried to pace me along with my friends because I'm a fast eater, but I was patiently waiting for my next hand roll/nigiri. I loved the gindara, it's just as good as I remember it at Hatsuyuki. I would def come back here again because it does fix my cravings and it's closer to the Dallas area. The toro scallop was also one of my fave pieces! Fresh fish all around!
I'm was going back and forth about if I should write this review because I don't want this place to get too popular. It's fantastic. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and took a quick pic of the specials board. The space is small, but we immediately got a seat. There are only about twenty at the big bar. The emphasis here is on the fish. It's fresh and prepared exquisitely. We filled up on some Toro, Aji, and Modai. So darn good. I was already planning to come back when I finished dinner. No reservations. Make sure you get there early.
Popped in to try this shop. I got a spicy salmon and spicy tuna hand roll to go. Very quick and friendly service. Good prices and fresh food. It was very yummy. I wish I got more rolls. Next time I'll come in and sit at the bar and try more
Out-freaking-standing! We loved this place to the moon and back! Everything is delicious! I attached my photos and tried my best to caption. Excellent staff and super patient with all our questions!
If you've ever been to kazunori in LA you know you're in for a treat at a premium sushi handroll bar! The quality here is excellent and you can't go wrong with any of the three pre-made handroll sets, and you are meant to pair it with a selection or two from their specials menu. Don't let the size deceive you - handrolls can be very filling very quickly. Service is swift and intended to be speedy. The chefs do a great job of keeping track where you're at and serve up the next handroll right on time. There are only about 15 seats in the whole place so savor, but be mindful.
Super impressed with the quality and taste of the hand rolls and sashimi here, considering it's Texas. There was no wait when I went, parking is easy, and service is quick. Just one con is that the chairs are super far apart and the corner seat is super awkward because there is so much room between you and the chef. Ordered the Hamachili (my favvvv!!) and the Salmon + House Mustard with some hand rolls on the side. The hamachili was so flavorful and the fish didn't feel old, same for the Salmon. Overall very solid sushi place to try especially if you have not tried an "authentic" sushi spot.
Great experience getting sushi here. We came for a Wednesday dinner and it was pretty empty, we were seated immediately. ATMOSPHERE: Small restaurant with only sushi bar seating, but this made for a special experience since our sushi chef was preparing everything right in front of us. One downside of the restaurant is the bar seating is welded to the ground so you can't move the seats around at all. A major plus though is the ample free parking in front of the restaurant. FOOD: We ordered a variety of hand rolls and sashimi. Everything was fantastic. Stand outs were the Shrimp Katsu hand roll (which features freshly fried shrimp) and the Yellowtail sashimi. I really enjoyed the unagi as well, so soft and tender. SERVICE: Personal and attentive service. We were able to talk with our sushi chef and order with him, but anything we ordered we had to then relay to our other waiter who was keeping our tab. Kind of an awkward set up. PRICE/VALUE: This is higher priced, as expected with higher quality sushi. But it's worth it in my opinion. Overall, this is a new favorite for high-quality sushi and I'll definitely be back!
This is my new favorite handroll place in Dallas! It is almost identical to my OG favorite, Hatsayuki, which I miss being down the street from ever since I moved to Dallas. They don't take reservations so I would recommend arriving when they open to minimize your wait time. I came here on a random weeknight and was so pleased to find that there was no wait. They have preset handroll combos, but I decided to order a la carte so that I could try more of the items on the special menu. Some of my favorite items on the menu are my tried and true from Hatsayuki - salmon belly ( a must try), spicy salmon hand roll, chu toro, and hamachili. So flavorful and fresh. The prices are super affordable. Service is quick. I cannot wait to go back again and again!
